check ur wirelss router package it comes with instructions on how to use it. Also since u havent provide any details abt ur router and system this is a general setup try next time to read our instruction b4 asking help

» Connect Your Wireless Router and Broadband Modem

To successfully complete the steps below:

• Ensure that you can access the Internet using a "wired" connection to your broadband modem before attempting to establish a wireless Internet connection.
  
• To complete the installation process, use the order of restarting your wireless equipment as described below, or the connection could fail.
  
• Your wireless router might have been shipped with an installation CD. Such CDs usually contain installation and troubleshooting information. Load the required software according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  
• If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) requires a user name and password for Internet access, such as DSL providers do, this information will need to be placed within the wireless router's configuration pages.

1 Disconnect the power from the broadband cable modem or the Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) modem.

Leave the broadband modem disconnected for at least 5 minutes

2 Power off all of your computers.
3 Disconnect the power from the wireless router.
4 Connect one end of a network cable to the broadband modem, and then connect the other end of the network cable to the Internet or WAN port on the wireless router (Figure 1).

5 Verify that no other cables, such as network cables, USB cables, or serial cables, are connected to these devices.
6 Connect the power to the broadband modem. Wait for at least 2 minutes for the broadband modem to initialize.
7 Connect the power to the wireless router. Wait for at least 2 minutes for the wireless router to initialize.
8 Turn on the computer and try connecting to the wireless router.

• If you wireless router shipped with a setup CD, run the CD in your computer now.

ok my problem is a continuation to this one...so decided to post here.from the instructions above, cyborg's help..and ofcourse the manual..i know how ..my desktop connected through ethernet.....wireless for my mac (with a password)..

now what i want to know is that if i take out the ethernet cable..the connection doesnt work on pc....(and it shoudnt ..cuz i havent typed the username and password)..

how can i search for a wireless connection on the pc?..i dont want to setup or anything..just want to search..is that possible?....its really easy on mac..but have never done it on pc...

u cna use the same control panel/ networking and then double click the wireless to show u availble connections. c onneect with urs and if it ask 4 username and passwd u can type in

in the control panel networking option..i only get one wireless option - "Wireless Network Setup Wizard" but thats for creating a new network...i dont see any list of available connections..
