Yousuf supports Malik’s appointment
KARACHI: Supporting Shoaib Malik’s appointment as the new captain of the national team, Pakistan’s batting maestro Mohammad Yousuf has said “he has no hard feelings after his younger pro was given preference over him to lead the sideâ€.
Yousuf said “it was a good decision that will be prove fruitful in the futureâ€.
Yousuf, the most seasoned player in the side with 75 Tests and 236 One-day Internationals (ODIs) under his belt, said “he was eager to lead the side after the World Cup and was disappointed at not getting the captaincy but keeping in mind the future, the Board had taken the correct decisionâ€.
“I think it was a good decision and I am confident it will produce positive results in the future,†the prolific batsman told a television channel in an interview.
Yousuf said he had no problem with Shoaib’s appointment and assured full support to his captain.
“I have no problems and I can assure Malik my 100 percent support.
I also hope all the other senior players would support him wholeheartedly,†he said.
Yousuf, who enjoyed a record breaking run last year scoring over 1700 runs in 11 Test matches with nine hundreds, said he would “like to see Malik continue his role as a captain for a long period of timeâ€.
