Giles named as development coach
| Giles was recently named as Warwickshire's director of cricket
| Former Test star Ashley Giles has been named as spin bowling coach for England's development squad in India.
Giles will be released from his duties as Warwickshire coach to join the England Performance Programme (EPP).
"It's exciting to be so hands-on in a coaching role," said Giles, who retired from cricket with a hip injury.
The 34-year-old will be joined by Martyn Moxon, who has been named as batting coach, while Kevin Shine will oversee the fast bowlers' development.
The EPP will serve as England's back-up squad should any senior players get injured during the three-Test tour in Sri Lanka.
England's selectors had initially named a development squad of 16, but all-rounder Ravi Bopara, pace bowler Stuart Broad and wicket-keeper Phil Mustard have been promoted to the Test squad.
Hampshire batsman Michael Carberry is the only new face in the EPP squad, which has been shrunk to 14 players.
Giles will work with leg-spinners Adil Rashid and Chris Schofield, and off-spinner James Tredwell.
"It'll be great to get back involved in the England set-up after being forced out early through injury and being around an England dressing room again in India will be a fantastic experience," said Giles.
ECB spin coach David Parsons will continue to work with England's senior spinners Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann in Sri Lanka.
The EPP is a four-week winter training camp which will base itself at the PCA Stadium in Mohali before heading to Chennai for two weeks at the MRF Cricket Academy. England Performance Programme squad: Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Tim Ambrose (Warwickshire), Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire), Michael Carberry (Hampshire), Steven Davies (Worcestershire), Joe Denly (Kent), James Hildreth (Somerset), Graham Onions (Durham), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Chris Schofield (Surrey), James Tredwell (Kent), Chris Tremlett (Hampshire), Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire), Luke Wright (Sussex).
