Groups revealed for 2009 Twenty20
Source : Bbc Sport
England will be in a group with Pakistan and the top ranked non-Test team when they host the ICC World Twenty20 in 2009.
The groups are based on finishing positions at the inaugural tournament in South Africa in September.
Champions India will face Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, while Australia take on Sri Lanka and West Indies.
The final group features New Zealand, South Africa and the second ranked associate member.
The top two teams from each group qualify for the Super 8s, playing three further matches, with the top four from that stage then going into semi-finals and a final.
Groups (2007 finishing positions in brackets):
Group A
India (1)
Bangladesh (8)
Zimbabwe (9)
Group B
Pakistan (2)
England (7)
Associate 1 (10)
Group C
Australia (3)
Sri Lanka (6)
West Indies (11)
Group D
New Zealand (4)
South Africa (5)
Associate 2 (12)

India get a good hand for 2009 T20 WC
Cricketnext.com
New Delhi: Defending champions will have relatively easy encounters in the initial stage of the 2009 ICC Twenty20 cricket World Championships to be held in England. India, who won the first ever T20 championships in South Africa in September this year were placed in an easy group A - alongside Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
The grouping was decided in the second edition of the two-day ICC Board meeting.
Since not enough matches have been played in the Twenty20 version to formulate official rankings for the teams, the groups were made on the basis of the performances in the 2007 World championships.
Sri Lanka who are currently on a tour Down Under were placed in Group C with Australia, whom they faced in the 2007 ODI World Cup earlier this year. West Indies is the third team in the group.
This year's runner-up Pakistan who lost to India in the sensational final were placed in Group B with England.
Group A: India, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe
Group B: Pakistan, England, Qualifier1
Group C: Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies
Group D: New Zealand, South Africa, Qualifier 2.
