New Delhi: The Twenty20 team continues to be feted for its World Cup victory.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni's brigade met the Prime Minister and the President as well as the President of the Congress party Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister's residence at 7 Race Course road was the first stop for the T20 champs before they moved onto the Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet President Pratibha Patil.
India had won the Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa last month, beating Pakistan by five runs in a dramatic final.
Meanwhile, the President Patil also met the Indian hockey team that triumphed at Asia Cup held in Chennai in September after beating Korea 7-2 in the finals.
The President met each of the hockey players after meeting the cricketers. She had in fact also met Chess World Champion Viswanathan Anand too when he returned from Mexico after he won the world championship.
After the meeting, India cricket team's vice-captain, Yuvraj Singh said, "After winning the Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa, it is finally today that we got to meet the Prime Minister and the President. It was a pleasure to meet them and take some lessons from them. They congratulated us on our victory and we had a good talk with them. It is a great honour for us - both the cricket and hockey teams."
