Tendulkar back in top 10 ODI batsmen
New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar's good performance with the bat against Australia in the ongoing One-Day series has seen the Master Blaster enter the top 10 of the ICC One-Day International rankings once again.
Tendulkar has jumped three places and is joint ninth along with the West Indies' Chris Gayle. He is the only Indian in the top 10 while vice-captain Yuvraj Singh is 15th and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at the 16th spot.
On the other hand Rahul Dravid's wretched form has seen him slip to the 22nd spot - a fall of seven places.
Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds, who scored a 88-ball 107 against India in the 18-run win at Nagpur on Sunday, has climbed six places to be ranked No. 2.
The top spot is still occupied by Australian skipper Ricky Ponting who has 786 rating points. Symonds has 778 rating points.
In the six matches of the seven-match ODI series against India, Symonds has scored 365 runs at an average of 91.25 with a strike rate of 110.94 and this is the first time that he has reached the second spot in the ODI rankings.
In fact, the Australians dominate the batsmen rankings occupying the top three spot. Two more Australians are among the top 10 ranks.
While Matthew Hayden is at the third spot, Michael Hussey is fifth and Michael Clarke at the eight spot. Aussie vice-captain Adam Gilchrist is at the 11th spot.
In the bowlers' rankings, Australian left-arm spinner Brad Hogg is at the seventh spot having jumped four ranks following his 11 wickets in the ODI series against India.
Nathan Bracken is the highest-ranked Australian bowler at third spot while Brett Lee is at the ninth spot.
South Africa's Shaun Pollock is the top ranked bowler followed by Shane Bond of New Zealand. Two Sri Lankans - Muttiah Muralitharan (4) and Chaminda Vaas (5) - complete the top five.
For India there is not much good news here as no bowler is in the top 20. The highest-ranked Indian bowler is Harbhajan Singh who is at the 29th spot.
