DAY 7 PREVIEW

Two supreme nations of the sub continent are ready to lock horns in their first appearance of the Super 8s and this promises to be a real humdinger of a contest. Both these sides have been part of many close fights but this is the first time they would be meeting in a T20I clash. The last match saw Pakistan losing out the game to their arch rivals India in an interesting bowl out. On the other hand, Sri Lanka would be riding high on confidence after two comprehensive wins.

Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan side is on a real high with their most destructive batsman Sanath Jayasuriya going great guns in this series and that has certainly set perfect starts for a Twenty20 affair. Upul Tharanga showed a lot of promise in the last game and their skipper wasn't shy of playing big shots as well. The bowling line up of Sri Lanka is considered to be the best in World Cricket today and they are doing a good job with Vaas, Fernando and Malinga sharing the attack. Two other aspects of this game have been done well too, the fielding and running between the wickets have also been good.

Players to watch out for: Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene and Chaminda Vaas

Pakistan

After a great win against the Scots, Pakistan became a part of perhaps the best ever Twenty20 Match in its short history. But there are holes that the Pakistanis will like to plug now that all the matches are important and against stiff opponents. The top order hasn't really fired and the move to keep Afridi low down the order has cost them dear. They have to rethink their batting line up. However, the good thing for them is that their bowling has been in good form. They did well to restrict India to a gettable score. All in all they have a good team. But the roles that the players play have to be remapped.

Players to watch out for: Imran Nazir, Sohail Tanvir and Shahid Afridi.
