Asian Bloc Meeting For 2011 Cricket World Cup Postponed

Meeting of the heads of the Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Bangladesh cricket boards, which was due to be held in Pakistan's summer resort Bhurban this month, has been postponed till June.
Naseem Ashraf, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, said on Monday that the meeting scheduled to constitute the joint World Cup organising committee has been postponed to June 18 and 19.
"The venue is the same but the dates have been changed because of prior commitments of board officials of these countries," he said.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will jointly host the 2011 World Cup after a bitter fight to get the hosting rights from the International Cricket Council (ICC) last year in Dubai.
"The meeting is significant because there we will decide the joint secretariat of the tournament, the joint organising committee and its members and other technical details," he said.
Pakistan has already named its former Director of Cricket Operations, Saleem Altaf, as the technical director of the World Cup.
The four boards have already decided that India would host the final while Pakistan and Sri Lanka will have the semi-finals and Bangladesh the opening ceremony.
Sources said the joint sitting was also important as the Bangladesh board, after its team's encouraging show in the recent World Cup, wanted Asian countries to give it more matches and also form a joint lobby to pressurise other ICC members into doing the same.
