Red face Langer's century crushes Ireland

BBC SPORT | Cricket | Counties | Langer's century crushes Ireland

FP Trophy (South), Taunton: Somerset 341-8 (50 ovs) bt Ireland 213-9 (41 ovs)
Scorecard

A century from skipper Justin Langer helped Somerset to a commanding 128-run victory over Ireland at Taunton.

Langer smashed 16 fours in his 132, sharing 142 for the second wicket with Cameron White, who bludgeoned three sixes in his 65 from as many balls.
James Hildreth added 41 from 28 balls with six fours and a six as Somerset posted a 341-8 having chosen to bat.

Ireland lost William Porterfield first ball in the opening over, and Andre Botha (dislocated finger) did not bat.

Marcus Trescothick breezed to 22 with five fours in partnership with Langer, but could not play a similarly expansive innings and edged an away swinger from David Langford-Smith in the eighth over.

Langer gave a caught and bowled chance to Kyle McCallan on 112 but remained until the total was 307, when he was yorked by Langford-Smith, whose 10 overs cost 91 runs.

Willoughby, who played two Tests and three one-day internationals for South Africa, all but settled the contest in an opening spell of seven overs from the Old Pavilion End that yielded three wickets and he finished with 5-33.

Botha was unable to bat after damaging his finger attempting to stop a lusty drive from Ian Blackwell off his own bowling.
